GAIEF Launches Phase II
GAIEF launched its Phase II Initiative on October 28th at the home of David & Michele Hirsch, and featured guest speaker, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle. This second phase, which will focus on Outreach, Career Academies and Technical Schools, kicked off the fundraising campaign that will support collaboration between Georgia's Technical Colleges and high schools to attract new talent to our industry. Our goal is to raise $1.5 million in the memory of Peggy Waskom, a dynamic industry leader who exemplified the very essence of what our industry can offer.... A career choice that rewards hard work, dedication, preparation and the highest level of integrity. This initiative, our boldest effort yet, will put our industry at the forefront of 700,000 throughout the state.
Lt. Governor Casey Cagle has been instrumental in supporting career academies throughout the State of Georgia. Career Academies represent a new model of learning that prepares students for a specific trade. The multi-family housing industry is fortunate to be one of the first industries to have a Pilot Program at DeKalb Technical College and Rockdale Career Academy. Beginning Spring 2009, these two programs will train students in the areas of leasing and maintenance. For more information, please click here.
